XSCAPE: The Evolving Game of Survival

Hey everyone, 

Things are looking very good on the production side so we just wanted to share a quick update on the last few changes that were made.  

Last month we shared the production sample which we are so excited about. What you didn't see was the missing Xs that we had embedded into the board instead of printed on top:

We just love how much it pops against the black board now!

There was also a mention regarding removing the board from the box which wasn't clearly shown before. We actually have a fabric tab embedded in the box so you can easily pull it to lift out the game:

Finally, we discovered an issue that caused some delay and is being corrected as we speak. When we improved the play area, switching Soft PVC to ABS, the trail chips that are also made from ABS now became sort of slippery when trail chips were laid on the play area. This would make the game play quite frustrating as you lay a lot of them during the game.

Thankfully, we we changed the material of the trail chips to that awesome soft PVC that worked so well against the ABS. Since there's no concern with exact positions or shrinkage, this actually makes perfect sense and will give just the right amount of friction to not slide around during gameplay.

This was a significant cost to us unfortunately as we already had the molds and chips completed for ABS, but it makes the game 1000% times better. We're truly happy with the results and can't wait to get these in your hands. The wait is a bit longer than we hoped, but will absolutely be well worth it! ❤️

Woh! First look of XSCAPE Production Sample!

Hey everyone!

We've got something exciting to show you. We received the production sample, and oh boy, it looks impressive! Let's take a look:

Giant Magnetic Box
with foam inserts for added protection. The box is big, bold and beautiful! The magnetic lid and thick cardboard add great strength and the foam insert keeps everything snug and secure.

Upgraded Play Area & Components
The Play Area with smooth ABS Plastic has a more durable finish and looks slick and vibrant. We love how this turned out!

Missing X
You may have noticed one spec missing from the game board. The Blue Xs:

These Xs were going to be stamp printed onto the game board, but we were getting issues with it aligning exactly, while also showing up in the vibrant colour we intended. Fortunately, we were able to make an upgrade to our mold to make these as fully embedded ABS pieces. This lets us ensure not only that they are in the right position, but also achieve the vivid colour we always wanted.

This change cost us a few weeks into our delivery timeline, but we're still mostly on track overall for a late fall shipping.

We're super thrilled with how XSCAPE has turned out, being one of our most premium games to date. We think you're going to love it too!

XSCAPE JULY UPDATE

Hi everyone! We hope your summer is going very well. We haven't had much to update lately as the game is still in production and there are many components still to produce and assemble.

 I'm just touching base, however, to update you on a few changes as the production continues to progress.

We've made 2 adjustments with the mold and materials of the game to better improve the durability and feel:

PLAY AREA
We've changed the soft PVC material to become the more durable ABS as the pre production models we're showing a potential for misalignment or warping when fully assembled. We decided that making it match the smooth matte ABS that the rest of the board frame has will not only guarantee accuracy between the play area, but also ensure it remains durable and vibrant.

EXPANSION DICE
We've upgraded the HAVOC Expansion dice from Acrylic Plastic to Resin. The weight and feel is much more premium and will allow for that soft matte finish we love!

Everything else remains the same and we're excited to show you the results! We are still on schedule to ship later this fall as planned.

Backerkit and Manufacturing Updates

Hi Everyone,

We wanted to touch base to go through a few items as it's been a while since our last update.

BACKERKIT

Most of you may have received a notice that your order is being locked in, which means by next week we will start the process of charging your credit cards for any of the additional fees.

If you are wondering why your cards are not charged at the time you completed your Backerkit information, that is because we wait to give everyone opportunity to make changes if they need to. It's much easier for us to modify your order for you if needed before any payment is taken to avoid refunds or additional separate charges.

Now that a large percentage has completed everything and emails/messages for changes has slowed, we are able to continue to the next steps.

That said, if you need to make a last minute change to your order or payment, you can log back in to backerkit.com to do so before orders get locked and cards are charged. If changes are needed after that, they can be done, but you will need to contact us directly to make the change.

XSCAPE MANUFACTURING

Things are progressing with the game still. It had taken a little longer than hoped to get the molding portion completed as the first few versions showed issues with the play areas plastic contracting out of position slightly which made it difficult for assembly. We have re-tooled this again to correct the issue.

Once this last part is complete, production can continue for the rest of the components and we can get back on track towards our fall delivery. 

We're so excited to get this game out there and can't wait for you to play it.

Pledge Manager is Live!

The Backerkit Pledge Manager is now Live!

You'll be receiving an invite email from us via Backerkit. Once you receive the email, you will login to Backerkit/Create a Backerkit account. All the funds paid here on Kickstarter will be in your Backerkit account. 

So if you paid $100 on Kickstarter, you will have $100 on Backerkit to apply to your order. If you add any more items during the checkout process, you will have to cover those additionaly costs. 

Shipping will be applied at checkout and any applicable VAT/Taxes will be applied as well in order to comply with your country's requirements.

For those who are also currently backing the UNIQ puzzles campaign, any shipping costs paid here for XSCAPE will be combined with the UNIQ items, so when that pledge manager launches later you may only have a small fee or none at all to pay for the items.
